A new way of working with customers helps GE Oil & Gas build long lasting relationships

Customization to Co-Creation

Given the immense scale of their products, GE Oil & Gas works closely with its clients to provide custom solutions that will perfectly and repeatedly meet their needs. Such a tailored approach is both time-consuming and costly. GE turned to frog to devise a process to efficiently co-create with their customers.

Diving In

GE and frog visited customer sites for one-on-one interviews, technical group sessions, and observation exercises to examine and understand GE’s existing processes.

Building Blocks

During a series of ideation sessions, frog guided GE and customer teams in the co-design of a compressor station using LEGO®. This approach allowed layout, installation and engine swap scenarios to be explored in a creative way and gave TransCanada a sense of ownership over the final design. It helped GE cement a long-term partnership with TransCanada.

frog quickly gained a deep understanding of GE’s processes and customer relationships. frog brought GE’s technical experts together with TransCanada to develop a new gas turbine solution.

Sept 2014

GE unveiled its flagship NovaLT16 turbine at the Turbomachinery Symposium in Houston, Texas, and signed a new agreement with TransCanada to develop the solution.

In September 2014 GE launched the new flagship NovaLT16 gas turbine and signed a memorandum of understanding for further collaborations with its client and co-creator, TransCanada.

Launched just 30 months later, this was an incredibly fast and efficient development, considering that the average turbine requires 5-6 years from concept to commercialization.
