GE — MyFleet
A redesign of GE Energy's MyFleet application suite that reflects the organization’s commitment to an integrated UX strategy and improves power plant performance.
Power generation is one of GE’s most critical business lines. To help simplify their operations, improve efficiency and increase customer satisfaction, GE Energy approached frog to redesign their MyFleet software. By improving the user experience of this remote monitoring and diagnostics system, GE hoped to make routine tasks easier for plant operators and surpass competitors with a strongly differentiated experience.
frog conducted on-site design research in close collaboration with GE designers, focused on understanding the needs of users, ranging from control room operators to plant engineers, managers and senior executives. We discovered continually shifting roles and responsibilities including monitoring, planning, and evaluating in the dynamic plant environment. We also found that users were challenged in managing information load, and needed easier ways to prioritize the most critical information.
With this knowledge, the team created a user-centric system that reflects the fast-paced teamwork required to run a large power plant. MyFleet’s extensible platform can be easily configured and customized by plant workers to meet their individualized needs. MyFleet ensures that the plant operates at peak performance, a critical factor in bolstering the bottom line. Frog developed interaction and design guides as part of a long-term strategy, to ensure the MyFleet platform can evolve to meet changing user needs.
The resulting software platform was a pioneer in prioritizing UX in GE’s next-generation products, setting standards and establishing GE’s firm commitment to an integrated user experience strategy.
