What will you be doing?

Content Designers can imagine new realities and create breakthrough experiences with a compelling narrative. Content Designers are systemic thinkers, bridge builders, and connectors, collaborating across multiple teams. They are excited about playing at the intersection of strategy, digital and physical design while possessing a general attitude and deep hunger for crafting genuinely transformative and inclusive experiences.

This profile uses language as a design tool, crafting accessible, understandable, actionable, and engaging messages that balance business needs with their customers' behaviors and information needs. This requires leading research, brainstorming sessions, creating the experience and design principles, defining information architecture, writing content, and establishing guidelines, objectives, and content specifications.

They will involve deep collaboration with other design teams and cross-functional folks in product management, engineering, and marketing/PR.

On a typical project, you will:

  • Conduct content research and audit mobile apps, websites, brand strategy, physical and digital services to assess existing content, benchmarks, and trends.
  • Give the teams better insight or define their value proposition.
  • Define the proper information hierarchy and determine what the voice and tone should be.
  • Consolidate insights to map customer journeys and prioritize key information and action barriers, focusing on content design, information hierarchy, and taxonomy.
  • Creating archetypes, positioning, and brand/product/service narratives compellingly and emotionally (storytelling).
  • Be responsible for understanding legal requirements, technological limitations, and other factors that constrain the experience.
  • Design narratives and tell stories around customer insights and data.
  • Improve products and services through valuable, clear, concise messaging that helps people discover and navigate intuitively throughout the entire journey (acquisition, activation, conversion, retention, and referral)
  • Be an advocate for accessibility and inclusion, and implement best practices across programs.
  • Be accountable for keeping a high standard in content production
  • Educate and guide other team members and partners on the importance of content, best practices, and content design processes.
  • Recommend strategies for the sunrise and sunsetting of content/identity/positioning and be able to propose short- and long-term solutions through roadmaps
  • Define information architecture (generating content diagrams, inventories, interaction flows, card sorting exercises, etc.).
  • Collaborate with growth teams to incorporate consumer behavior and SEO strategy into concepts and executions.
  • Lead content testing through prototypes, A/B tests, production sites to identify and consumer insights and iterate content and experience based on learnings.

We want you to have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience creating content independently and with cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience working in a design studio, firm, technology or innovation-focused consultancy and know-how to deliver on work in a client servicing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of design principles and methodology, mainly applied to experience, product, and service design.
  • Passion for writing compelling content that resonates emotionally with people.
  • Aspiration to a broader mindset about design, research, multidisciplinary and human-centered approaches as the foundation for content creation.
  • A portfolio of content developed for digital and/or physical experiences.
  • Experience using industry-standard software and tools (e.g., Keynote, MS Office products, Figma, Sketch, Invision, Zeplin).

It would be a bonus if you had:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a design-related field
  • A second language (and every additional language is a plus!)
  • Design Systems knowledge
  • Experience with AEM or other modern CMS platforms.
  • Experience in the execution and moderation of user research sessions (face-to-face and/or remote).
  • Experience with user research tools and techniques (Archetypes, Empathy Maps, Customer Journey Maps, etc.)
  • Capabilities to optimize content for search engines
