Trash Talk: Day 3

The memory trigger
Today I almost cracked. A little bit of deadline stress and some low blood sugar made me want to throw this project…in the garbage. I ran across the street to Chipotle for a late lunch—and this is a bit embarrassing, but I have a hard time even remembering that I am not allowed to create garbage. Holy baby steps. (Yesterday at coffeetime, I picked up a paper plate and filled it with food before I realized what I had done. Granted, the paper plate can be recycled, but really, I should use a real plate.)

As the woman at Chipotle filled up the taco shells, I remembered the project & cringed to see the paper lining already the food basket. It was paper, so I was ok- but my NO sensor was triggered. No drink! No receipt! No napkin, No plastic fork! Thank you, bye!

So I ate my tacos with great thirst, wishing all along for a paper napkin, and remembering the days when I used to grab a whole pile. I wrapped the remaining taco in the paper (came in handy after all) and brought it back to work for a snack or to take home later to compost. I actually just nuked it a few minutes ago and BAM- used a paper towel to dry my hands in the kitchen. Where is my brain?

I need a little survival kit to help myself out in these situations- hand towels, silverware, a travel cup, and a cloth napkin. I don’t want to feel stupid or thirsty tomorrow.

PS. Some cool photography to keep garbage on my brain http://www.chrisjordan.com/
