There’s been a lot of buzz these days about Poynor’s pov on innovation. Next week, David Merkoski and I will be speaking at the SDIC Managing Innovation Conference in San Diego.
Our presentation is pretty simple and the shameless self-promotion goes something like this:
Clients, Communication, and Culture: Balancing fresh ideas both inside and out of the studio
Whether it’s designing potty-pants or a next-generation 10’ UI experience, Cary and David will share their thoughts, experiences, and methodologies that have helped Fortune 500 companies find innovation at all levels.
A late response on my part.
I am in Chicago with Josh Bloom and Andy Gilliland presenting the DTA (Disney Travel Agent App) at MAX 2007. We will be at the AIRpark later on today. Stop by.
Yesterday’s keynote was a huge success and tomorrow we will be presenting the onAIR tour bus, tour website, and hubble application with Lee Brimelow and Mike Chambers.
July 29 through August 4th marks a not-so-new American past time; it’s the 20th anniversary of shark week on the discovery channel. Shark lovers can sink their teeth into (I used to work in advertising ya know) shows like “Sharkman” or “Top 5 eaten alive.” What’s important about Discovery’s promotion is the thought, time, and effort that went into the supporting components like the Sharkrunners game.
Sharkrunners, created by the good people at area/code, is about observing sharks in their natural habitat in order to help preserve and protect sharks. You, a not-so-famous shark researcher, and your virtual ship use real world telemetry (gps-ish devices attached to their fins) to track sharks inside the gaming …
Recently, some frogs from the west coast have been working on the promotional launch of Adobe’s AIR (formerly Apollo) tour entitled “onAIR”. Lee Brimelow, Nick De La Mare, and Rob Stokes were recently interviewed about the current project. Check out the interview here.
A friend turned me on to a well designed website this weekend. Sarkissian Mason uses some really muted video footage to supplement their minimal type design.
well done.
I didn’t attend sxsw this year.
Instead, I bought a mouse.
The Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 to be exact.
I was wrapping up a project with my team this week and presenting final work out on the road.
Before I broke out, I realized that I needed to purchase a presentation clicker; something everyone should have if they are presenting in powerpoint or keynote.
I zoned out for a minute and started to remember back about all the other ticket items such as headphones, sunglasses, umbrellas, pens, and portable mice that I’ve purchased, somehow lost, and even destroyed out of frustration.
Like most people, I turned to the internet for help researching clickers and …
As promised, here is the update on Carla Diana’s “fragile: handle with care” installation project in france.
She has also been working on a workshop with local kids in Savana at the city art museum. She described the photo below as a “radioactive pizza”. Check it out. Nice stuff.
I had a chance this week to catch up with my good friend and former sf frog Carla Diana who is currently the Professor of Interactive Design at The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). Carla and I met about 8 years ago working in NYC. I will spare you the small talk about Carla’s life and the recent remodeling of her kitchen. However, I did want to share what’s been going on at SCAD and her recent work.
First, I received a mysterious photo in my email of an illuminated egg. At first glance, I asked “what the hell is it ?”
Carla replied, “Here’s an explanation. It is called ‘fragile: handle with care’
Upon entering the rough and cavernous interior space of Lacoste’s Galerie Bleue, …
After doing plenty of research, I decided to sign up and start using 360 voice as a blogging service for my Xbox 360. The team over at 360voice.com did a killer job by putting this thing together. Nice work.
To me, 360 voice is one of the better things you can add-on to your account. 360 voice tracks and logs what you play, when you’re logged on, and your current gamer score/accomplishments. When all is said and done, it writes a nice (or a not so nice) blog posting for you.Â
nice posting:
“egbert food is the best… he treats me right, I treat him right. It is a good thing we have going here. Gamer score stands at 1510. Not too shabby! That is a profit of 30 …
All the eating, yelling, and gift giving is officially over in my family. This year, my mother’s dog (Oliver) received an ipod for Christmas. Why? I’m not really sure. I am still a little stunned. During the holidays, some people like to hide out in the living room to watch football; I’m ducking out in the kitchen and checking flickr for dogs with ipods.Â
What do these dogs listen to anyway?
I will follow up next year with a lengthier post regarding tech for pets.
